Although we have already seen images of the shoe, Jordan Brand officially introduced the Air Jordan XXXVII to world Wednesday. Unfortunately these images did nothing to assuage my overall siappoinment in its aesthetic. It seems the XXXVII is the latest sneaker edition to be a letdown after a high point in the series. This occurrence is not foreign to the Air Jordan line, as the XV was a clear step back from the masterpiece that was the Air Jordan XIV.
At its upper, the XXXVII makes use of the next evolution of Lenoweave called Arkema, which is a monofilament that according to the brand is “strong and pliable.” The utilization, devin and profile of the weave , as well as the tooling’ profile draws its inspiration from the Air Jordan VII and the craftsmanship of West African basket weaving. Support Zones in the upper are modeled after the after the form of sandal straps and ankle tape.
Bonded to the underside of the upper is a full-length Zoom Air strobel bolstered at the forefoot with an additional forefoot Zoom Air unit that sits within a TPU caged Formula 23 midsole.. A multi-colored VII-inspired rubber outsole completes the aesthetic.
The “Beyond Borders” colorway debuts in September ; the “Hare” colorway drops later in the fall.
